One of the most beautiful Chinese folk songs, the Kang Ding Love Song from the Sichuan Province is a very accessible arrangement for choirs: soprano, alto 1 & alto 2, and baritone, all within easy ranges. There is one verse in Chinese, then a corresponding verse in English, then a repeat of the first verse. Translation (and the English verse is):
“High upon the mountainside float the clouds so white
There lies peaceful Kang Ding Town, bathed in silver moonlight.
Moonlight shines bright over Kang Ding Town.”
